Home Science is a multidisciplinary field that is not only confined to food and nutrition but also covers topics such as textiles, health, clothing, family relations, community living, sociology, economics, child development, and hygiene. All of these sectors have a major scope.

The scope of Home Science Courses is not just restricted to the household but also various avenues to work in a wide number of fields especially, research organizations, international and national development organizations, education, NGOs, apparel industry, counseling, dietetics, women development sector, etc. A student can also take up administrative, coordination, or networking roles in an organization.

Job Opportunities After Home Science

Fashion Designer:

Fashion designing is a flourishing job in India as there is all new awareness about fashion and style in youth these days. Thus home science helps a person to know about the construction, printing, identifying, selecting the fabric from the supplier.

Nutritionist:

In this hustle and bustle of life, everyone wants to have a healthy lifestyle. Nutritionists help us in maintaining our diet. They prescribe us the diet keeping in mind our body and its ailments. They manage our calorie, protein, fats, carbohydrate, and nutrient intake.

Teaching:

Students who have done a master’s degree can opt for teaching at the secondary level. For graduate-level posts, a student must have cleared the UGC NET exam after completing a master’s degree in home science.

Production Industry:

In the production industry, there are many other types like cooking, food preservatives, manufacturing which require home science experts. The graduates from home science can apply as food analysts, quality managers, and controllers.
